"Like BarberDave… I make my own fun”
What I like about Zingari Man
1. Heather seems genuinely dedicated to making a harmless and perhaps even nourishing product, be it soap or balm or splash.
2. Scents are well suited to the smell of soap, and never too strong. My personal ideal of soap scent is a freshly opened refill puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat.
3. It is an excellent example of what the kids are calling a "low-structure" lather, but it rinses clean where many other soaps I'd put in this category leave a sense of my face being coated. Zingari Sego rinses clean, when it is time to rinse. Until then. It is slick and has good residual slickness with a handful of water.
4. Two bases, Sego and Vegan. Flip a coin. Your probability of winning is 1.
One interesting development from Zingari Man has been her collaborations with perfumers. She seems to appreciate the value of a scent specialist - something a soapmaker isn't necessarily an example of. She has three or four such collaborations: Mousse Illumine with Rogue, No. 1 with Byron Parfums, and Black Wood, with Rirana Parfume.
Favorite Scents:
The Magician. A moderate level of fresh scent in my experience, but one of the more strongly scented of her offerings
And there's, Nocturne - a collaboration with Barrister & Mann that is apples, leaf piles, and smoke. It is one of my all-time favorite shaving soap scents out of the 450 or so I've spread on my face.
The Master. A "Spicy Barbershop." To me it's sort of a holiday scent. And a beautiful label.
Criticisms:
This is my first review here. My goal in a review is to communicate my experiences with some product. Im not into the idea of putting time and effort into criticisms in my reviews. If I encounter a bad product, I move on pretty quickly. I don't want to spend time thinking about the bad experience. I might mention some wish, or unfulfilled claim, but my reviews are of things I like and find interesting. That being said...
Zingari Man balm and splash are two products that I've seen many people live, but neither of which I have used, so all my comments are about either Sego or the Vegan bases of the shaving soap. As a shaving soap, it is a top performer. The "low-structure" is preferred by many people. I like that it is an option. Of soaps in this category, I like Zingari Man Sego the best. I have not had a bad experience with it, in terms of scent and performance.
